Who is counselling for?

Some people believe that counselling is only for those who are weak and can’t make it on their own or those who have a serious mental illness.

But the reality is that counselling is for anyone who might want to …

Solve a current problem

Have you suffered a recent setback — an illness, losing your job, a crime — which makes you feel that you are not coping with life?

Have you recently lost someone you love?

Do you feel conflicted because everyone around you wants something from you?

Break free from the past

Have you been scarred or trapped by something that happened to you in the past?

Perhaps the family you have is not the one you would have chosen to have.

Are you living with regrets over some decisions you’ve made?

Be your best self

Are you looking for a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in your life?

Do you wonder whether you are living up to your full potential or feel that something is holding you back from achieving peak performance at work?

Are you are missing a spark of creativity and joy in your life?

Live lovingly with others

Do you feel completely alone in the world and that no one understands you?

Do you wish you knew how to be more intimate with your spouse?

Are you wondering how you can be better parents?

Do you want to learn how to better manage and resolve conflicts with others?

Change is possible and the future can be better than the past.

Counsellors are professionally trained to help you break out of difficult situations, move beyond your comfort zone and nurture the life you deserve.

What our clients say

"I have to admit that I started my counselling sessions with low expectations but I was shocked to discover that within one session, I learnt more about myself than I did in four months with another therapist."

"I have yet to meet another therapist as sensitive and insightful as Alex. I felt that she genuinely understood what I was going through - all the fears, the struggles, the guilt. She accepted me fully and had my back 110%."
Rosa
Dealing with sexual assault*
"I woke up everyday feeling like life was not worth living. I felt trapped in the rat race, a lousy relationship and a life that didn't belong to me. Principal Counsellor

I believe that deep respect for human dignity and autonomy is essential to all relationships. Because every person is unique, I change my counselling techniques to fit you. I aim to help you find solutions based on a collaborative process which emphasizes what you value, how you see yourself and what you think of as a meaningful life.”

Alexandra Serrenti is a counsellor, philosopher, educator and adventurer.  She has worked for twenty years in the field of human development asking what makes people thrive and lead flourishing lives. In addition to lecturing in tertiary institutions in the Asia Pacific in both philosophy and psychology departments, Alex has also worked across disciplines with artists, athletes, musicians, martial arts practitioners and craftsmen to acquire a more holistic understanding of human happiness and creativity. These experiences have consolidated her belief that there are multiple visions of a good life and that people find fulfillment when they are empowered to cultivate a life that allows them to express themselves authentically and contribute meaningfully to others.

Alex’s therapeutic orientation is a humanistic one that emphasizes both a holistic appreciation of the human person and the practical problem-solving characteristics of cognitive-behavioral approaches. She has counselled, coached and mentored multiple individuals; with some individuals and couples needing help to overcome difficult life challenges and others seeking self-discovery, growth and peak performance.

Alex believes that in addition to traditional talk therapies, developing our physical and sensual capacities through engagement in the arts, sport and nature can be remarkable sources of healing and growth for individuals. She is therefore open to using bodywork, art and nature-based activities in her practice. Walk-and-talk and walk-and-paddle sessions are therefore available as complements to traditional sessions in consulting rooms.

Alex has served in a voluntary capacity for non-profit organisations – particularly with the LGBTQI+ community – for more than 20 years in multiple capacities and is therefore sensitive to the particular difficulties faced by clients from marginalised and/or minority communities. She welcomes and values working with people of all nationalities, races, ages, socio-economic groups, sizes, sexual dispositions and religious commitments.
